National Theatre invites Manager Megan On Screen!

Lights, Camera, National Theatre! Manager Megan on Screen! We’ve got some amazing news to share…

Our brilliant Manager Megan and school owner of Jigsaw Barnet and Jigsaw Potters Bar was invited to film with none other than the National Theatre for their brand new promotional video… and we couldn’t be more proud!

Back in October, Megan and a group of students from her school, where she also teaches, were asked to be part of this exciting project. The aim? To showcase the power of theatre and the incredible impact it has on young people across the country.

Filming took place at the National Theatre itself, and it was a truly unforgettable experience for everyone involved. After months of anticipation, the finished promo was released in late February — and it’s absolutely brilliant. A moving, energetic celebration of creativity, connection, and the importance of the arts in education.

Watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=aWC4P0k3xeA

We’re so proud of Megan for representing both her school and the wider theatre education community. Make sure you give it a watch — and keep an eye out for some familiar faces!

Tina: The Tina Turner Musical – Theatre Night Out!

Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, an amazing Theatre Night Out and A “Simply the Best” Experience!

Megan, Jigsaw Barnet & Potters Bar owner and manager enjoyed a well-deserved night out at the theatre. And what better show to see than the powerhouse production of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical!

From the moment the curtain went up, the energy in the theatre was electric. The show tells the incredible life story of music legend Tina Turner. From her humble beginnings to global superstardom, and it had us completely gripped from start to finish.

The performances were outstanding, with vocals that gave us goosebumps and choreography that lit up the stage. The lead actress channelled Tina’s spirit with such raw emotion and power, it felt like we were witnessing the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll herself.

For our Jigsaw team, seeing a show like this is not only a treat, it’s a huge source of inspiration. It reminds us of the impact of storytelling through music and movement, and why we do what we do each week with our students. If you haven’t seen Tina yet, we highly recommend it for our Jigsaw

Parents… It’s bold, emotional, and unforgettable. A true celebration of resilience, talent, and finding your voice.

Mean Girls in the West End – A Jigsaw Team Trip!

Jigsaw Team Trip – Megan & Maddie went to see Mean Girls in the West End!

At Jigsaw Potters Bar, we love a good theatre trip — and last week, our fabulous Manager Megan and amazing Dance Teacher Maddie headed to the West End to see the brand-new production of Mean Girls… and they LOVED it!

From the fierce choreography to the catchy songs and high-energy performances, the show was packed with everything we love about musical theatre. Megan and Maddie were especially blown away by the talent on stage (and may have left the theatre singing “I’d Rather Be Me” all the way home!).

Not only was it a great night out, but it was also full of inspiration for our classes — with bold dance routines, big characters, and powerful messages about friendship and staying true to yourself, there’s lots we can’t wait to bring back to the classes.

If you get the chance to see Mean Girls, we recommend it to our older students— it’s SO fetch!

Let’s Put On A Show 2025!

Jigsaw Students to Shine in Sky Arts Production of ‘Let’s Put On A Show’!

We are thrilled to share some exciting news — students from Jigsaw Potters Bar and Jigsaw Barnet have been given an incredible opportunity to be part of a brand-new Sky Arts production!

Our talented performers have been working hard in rehearsals for ‘Let’s Put On A Show’! Developing their skills and preparing for what promises to be an unforgettable performance. It’s been an inspiring experience so far, and we couldn’t be prouder of the commitment, energy, and enthusiasm our students have brought to the process.

And the best part? They’ll be taking the stage at the iconic Actors’ Church in Covent Garden — a truly special venue steeped in theatrical history.

We are so proud to see our students in action, representing Jigsaw with passion, creativity, and confidence. This is a fantastic achievement and such a valuable experience for everyone involved. One that we’re sure they’ll remember for years to come.

East Barnet Festival, Here We Come!

As we step into the summer term here at Jigsaw Barnet, there’s a real buzz in the air! Our performing arts teachers are busy planning exciting new material, and getting ready for one of our favourite annual traditions…

 The East Barnet Festival!

Every summer, our amazing students at Jigsaw Barnet take to the stage at this fantastic local event. The East Barnet Festival is always a highlight of the year at Jigsaw. The energy, joy, and talent on display make it a truly unforgettable experience for all. And last year’s performance was nothing short of spectacular!

This summer, we’re turning things up a notch…

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ll be welcoming students from Jigsaw Potters Bar, Jigsaw Hendon, and Jigsaw Finchley to join us on stage for the first time ever!

It’s going to be a celebration of community, creativity, and everything we love about performing arts.

We can’t wait to see our students come together, support one another, and shine in front of a live audience. Whether it’s singing, dancing, or acting their hearts out… The East Barnet Festival this summer is going to be one to remember.

Watch this space for more details and sneak peeks as we count down to festival day. Let the summer fun begin!

Dancing is Great for Your Child’s Physical and Mental Health!

At Jigsaw Performing Arts Hendon, we believe in the power of dancing to shape not just a child’s skills but also their physical and mental well-being too. Dance is more than just a fun activity—it’s a holistic exercise that offers benefits that go far beyond the dance floor. Here’s why dancing is one of the best ways to support your child’s development.

Physical Health Benefits of Dancing

Dancing is a fantastic form of exercise that promotes overall fitness. It helps improve strength, flexibility, and coordination, which are key components of a child’s physical development. Whether they’re learning ballet, contemporary, or street dance, children are constantly moving, which boosts cardiovascular health and enhances muscle tone. Plus, dancing is a full-body workout, improving posture and balance while developing fine and gross motor skills.

Mental Health Benefits of Danceing

The benefits of dancing go beyond the body—it’s also a great way to support mental health. Dance encourages creativity and expression, allowing children to process and communicate their feelings in a positive, non-verbal way. Through choreography, children learn to set goals, stay disciplined, and develop a sense of accomplishment when they achieve them. This builds self-confidence and promotes a healthy sense of self-esteem.

Moreover, dance is an excellent stress reliever. The physical activity helps release endorphins, which are the body’s natural mood elevators. In a world that can sometimes feel overwhelming, dance provides a fun and engaging way for children to de-stress and focus on the present moment.

Dancing at Jigsaw Hendon, The Jigsaw Experience

At Jigsaw Performing Arts Hendon, we offer a welcoming and supportive environment where your child can explore their love for dance. With experienced teachers and a class structure designed to nurture both physical and emotional growth, we provide a space where every child can thrive.

Dance isn’t just about learning steps—it’s about growing in confidence, health, and happiness. Join us and let your child experience the joy of dance!

Mental and Physical Well-Being: Why Drama is Great for Kids!

Why Drama is Great for Your Child’s Mental and Physical Well-Being at Jigsaw Performing Arts Harpenden!

At Jigsaw Performing Arts Harpenden, we believe in the transformative power of drama for children’s mental and physical well-being. Drama is much more than just acting, it’s an immersive experience that nurtures creativity, boosts confidence, and helps children grow both emotionally and physically. Here’s why drama is an excellent choice for your child’s development…

Improves Mental Well-Being

Drama is a wonderful way for children to express their emotions and explore different perspectives. Through role-playing, storytelling, and improvisation, kids can safely explore various scenarios and characters, helping them build empathy and emotional intelligence. This allows them to understand and manage their own feelings while learning how to connect with others. Drama also encourages children to step out of their comfort zone, reducing anxiety and fostering a sense of achievement and self-worth.

The collaborative nature of drama builds a sense of community. Children work together to create scenes and performances, which strengthens their teamwork and communication skills. This sense of belonging and shared purpose is a powerful way to support mental health, helping kids feel supported and understood by their peers and mentors.

Physical Health Benefits

Drama is not just about words, it’s about movement too. Many drama exercises involve physical activity, such as using body language, facial expressions, and spatial awareness. These activities help children develop coordination, balance, and motor skills. Performing on stage requires focus and discipline, helping children improve their posture and physical awareness.

The physicality of drama also aids in relieving stress. The expressive movement involved in acting can help children release pent-up energy, reduce tension, and relax their minds. When children act, they learn to inhabit their bodies in new ways, gaining confidence in both their physical and emotional presence.

The Jigsaw Experience

At Jigsaw Performing Arts Harpenden, our drama classes are designed to provide a safe and supportive environment for children to explore the world of performance. Through creative play, role-taking, and performances, children develop key life skills and a deeper understanding of themselves.

Drama at Jigsaw isn’t just about acting, it’s about growing, learning, and thriving. Let your child discover the joys of drama while enhancing their mental and physical well-being.
