Jigsaw Hemel Hempstead and St Albans Shine at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre

There is something incredibly special about seeing your students step onto a professional stage.

Recently, 27 of our Jigsaw Hemel Hempstead and St Albans students had the opportunity to perform in the Stars of Tomorrow showcase at the beautiful Aylesbury Waterside Theatre – and what an experience it was.

After weeks of rehearsals alongside their usual Jigsaw classes, the big day finally arrived. As we stepped backstage for the first time, there was a real sense of excitement. The scale of the theatre, the lighting, the stage itself – it was inspiring and just a little bit magical.

The students approached their technical rehearsal with focus and professionalism, taking in every detail and supporting one another throughout. Watching other schools perform in the first half only added to the anticipation. Then it was their turn.

Our students performed Tonight Belongs to You from the musical The Prom, and they truly embodied everything Jigsaw stands for.

Not just performance.
Not just strong vocals and choreography.
But teamwork. Encouragement. Joy.

From the wings, our teachers could not have been prouder. The energy backstage afterwards was full of smiles, laughter and that wonderful post-performance buzz that comes from doing something amazing together.

Opportunities like this are about so much more than being on stage.

They are about:

  • Stepping outside a comfort zone
  • Building confidence in a supportive environment
  • Representing your school community
  • Creating memories that last far beyond one evening

And perhaps most importantly, they are about feeling that you belong.

Hearing from our parents afterwards reminded us why these experiences matter so much:

“THANK YOU to you Natalie, Alice and Yasmin for the dedication and constant kindness to empower our children to shine.”

“Thank you for all your hard work, time, help, support and love… they all smashed it!”

“My daughter’s confidence has grown and she’s stepped out of her comfort zone more in the last six months with Jigsaw than she ever has.”

“It was a fantastic experience for him, which he’ll remember for a long time.”

“He thoroughly enjoyed every minute and had never before felt so much like a celebrity! He would absolutely love to perform on stage again.”

When confidence grows gently over time, moments like this become possible.

We are so proud of every single student who took part in Stars of Tomorrow. They represented Jigsaw Hemel Hempstead and St Albans with warmth, teamwork and real joy.

This was not about creating stars.
It was about nurturing confident, happy young people who feel comfortable being seen and heard.

And we cannot wait for the next opportunity to support our students as they continue to grow.
