Potters Bar Carnival is back and we cannot wait to be a part of it!

Excitement is building because Potters Bar Carnival is returning on Sunday 14th June 2026, and the team at Jigsaw Potters Bar cannot wait to be part of this fantastic, community celebration once again.

Events like this are always a highlight for us. They bring together families, local organisations and performers for a day full of energy and community spirit. Our students love having the opportunity to share what they have been working on in class and represent Jigsaw in front of the local community.

A World Cup Inspired Performance

This year’s carnival theme is The World Cup, which has sparked lots of creativity in our classes.

Our team is already hard at work preparing some exciting performance numbers inspired by it. Rehearsals are underway, with students learning energetic choreography and getting into the spirit of the theme. From lively routines to plenty of colour and creativity, the performances are set to be full of energy and fun.

Just like sport, performing arts is all about teamwork, encouragement and confidence. Watching the students support one another as they rehearse is always a wonderful part of the process.

Taking part in events like Potters Bar Carnival is such an important experience for our Jigsaw Potters Bar students. Performing at a local event helps build confidence, teamwork and stage presence, while also giving families and the community the chance to see the incredible talent we have within our school.

Come and Support Our Performers

If you are visiting Potters Bar Carnival on Sunday 14th June, do come along and support our amazing Jigsaw performers.

The children are working hard on their World Cup themed performance, and we cannot wait to share it with the community.

It is always such a brilliant day and we are very proud to see our students representing Jigsaw Potters Bar as part of this wonderful local event.

Thinking of Leaving Teaching? Here’s a practical next step that still gives you purpose

If you’re thinking about leaving teaching, you’re not alone. Many passionate educators reach a point where they want more flexibility, more balance and a way to continue making a difference without the pressures of the traditional education system. The question is, what comes next?

If you’re thinking about leaving teaching, it’s usually not a quick decision

Most people don’t walk away from teaching lightly. You care about children. You believe in helping them grow. You’ve invested time, energy and emotion into your career.

But over time, the role can start to feel different with long hours, Increasing pressure, less flexibility and less time to focus on the individual child.

And eventually, many teachers find themselves asking: Is there another way to do what I love?

The truth is, your skills are still exactly what families need

A background in teaching or education gives you a powerful foundation for something new.

You already know how to:

  • Create structure and routine
  • Support different personalities and needs
  • Build trust with children and parents
  • Encourage confidence and communication

These are not just teaching skills. They are life skills.

And they are exactly what parents are looking for when choosing extra-curricular activities for their children.

What if you could stay in education, but on your own terms?

A Jigsaw Performing Arts franchise offers the shift to a different way of working with children that feels more aligned with why you started teaching in the first place.

A franchise model removes much of that uncertainty. With Jigsaw, you are stepping into:

  • A proven business model built over 30 years
  • Clear systems and processes
  • Training covering operations, marketing and day-to-day management
  • Ongoing support as your school grows
  • You are in business for yourself, but not by yourself.
  • Flexibility that fits around real life

Our franchisees focus is run their own Jigsaw Performing Arts school and create a safe and welcoming space for children to grow in confidence.

Performing arts is a great way for children to explore child-centred (no performance led) creativity. We want our sessions to be structure but never pressurised so that children feel like they belong. Your supporting communication and creativity and allowing children to progress at their own pace.

For many former teachers, this feels like a return to what education should be.

Still making a difference, just in a different way

One of the biggest concerns when leaving teaching is losing that sense of purpose.

But the impact is still very much there in our performing arts schools.

Each week, you see a shy child finding their voice, a nervous child settling into a group , Friendships forming  and confidence growing

Is a franchise this the right next step for you?

One of the biggest barriers to leaving teaching is uncertainty and starting a business on your own can certainly feel overwhelming.

A Jigsaw franchise is designed to be built around your life, not the other way round. A franchise is a way of running your own business with the support of an established brand.

Many franchisees start part time alongside another role and shape their business around family life too.

Instead of starting from scratch, you access our proven business model using systems, structure and guidance that have been developed over our 30 years in business.

Leaving teaching isn’t about walking away from what you care about. It’s about finding a way to keep that purpose, in a role that works better for you.

If you’re ready to explore a different path, one that offers flexibility, structure and the chance to build something meaningful, a Jigsaw franchise could be the next step.

Jigsaw Teddington Can Help Build Public Speaking Confidence

How Performing Arts at Jigsaw Teddington Helps Build Public Speaking Confidence in Children

Many parents worry when their child feels shy speaking in front of others.

Whether it is answering questions in class, speaking to new people, reading aloud at school or simply introducing themselves in a group, confidence with communication takes time to build.

At Jigsaw Arts Teddington, we believe public speaking confidence grows gently through practice, encouragement and feeling safe enough to be heard.

Our Saturday morning dance, drama and singing classes for children aged 3–18 are designed to do exactly that.

Through performing arts, children learn far more than routines and songs. They develop confidence, communication and important skills for life.

Why Public Speaking Confidence Matters

Public speaking is not just about standing on a stage.

It shows up every day in school, friendships and future careers.

Children with strong communication skills often feel more confident:

  • answering questions in class
  • making new friends
  • expressing thoughts and feelings
  • joining group activities
  • speaking clearly and confidently
  • handling presentations and interviews later in life

For many children, especially those who are naturally quieter, these situations can feel overwhelming.

That is where performing arts can make a real difference.

How Drama Helps Children Speak with Confidence at Jigsaw Teddington

Drama is one of the most powerful ways to support public speaking confidence.

When children step into a character, they often feel safer expressing themselves. It removes some of the pressure and allows confidence to grow naturally.

Through drama classes, children practise:

  • speaking clearly
  • using expression and tone
  • eye contact and body language
  • listening and responding
  • thinking creatively
  • presenting in front of others

Over time, those skills begin to transfer into everyday life.

The child who once whispered their name at register often becomes the child confidently sharing ideas in class.

Singing Builds Voice and Self-Belief

Singing also plays an important role in building confidence.

Learning to project the voice, use breath control and speak with clarity all support stronger communication.

Children who sing regularly often become more comfortable being heard and taking up space confidently.

They also learn resilience, teamwork and trust, especially when performing as part of a group.

Dance Builds Presence and Confidence

Confidence is not only about words.

Dance helps children develop posture, body awareness and stage presence, all of which support confident communication.

Children learn how to carry themselves with assurance, which often impacts how they feel both inside and outside the classroom.

Sometimes confidence starts long before the first spoken word.

Public Speaking Confidence for Every Personality at Jigsaw Teddington

At Jigsaw Arts Teddington, we know every child is different.

Some children arrive full of energy and confidence. Others take a little longer to settle.

Both are equally valued.

We do not believe confidence should be forced. We believe it should be built gently, with structure, patience and support.

That is why our classes are designed to be warm, welcoming and child-centred.

Every child deserves a place where they feel they belong.

Our Sunday classes are split across three key performing arts subjects:

Jigsaw Crouch End Turns 20! 🎭

This year, Jigsaw Crouch End is celebrating an incredible milestone. 20 years of inspiring young performers!

For two decades Jigsaw Crouch End has been at the heart of the community, nurturing confidence, creativity and talent in children and young people through singing, dancing and drama. What started as a passionate vision to provide quality performing arts training has grown into a thriving school filled with energy, laughter and unforgettable moments.

Over the years, hundreds of students have walked through the doors, some shy and unsure, others bursting with confidence. All leaving with something special.

Jigsaw isn’t just about performing, it’s about:

• Building lifelong friendships

• Developing self-esteem

• Encouraging teamwork

• Creating a safe space to express yourself

• Making magical memories on and off the stage

From spectacular show days to weekly classes full of imagination and fun, Jigsaw Crouch End has consistently provided a place where children can truly shine.

Reaching 20 years is no small achievement. It reflects the dedication of the incredible teaching team, the support of families, and of course the commitment and enthusiasm of every student who has ever taken part.

The impact goes far beyond the stage. Many former students carry the confidence and communication skills they developed at Jigsaw into their schools, careers and everyday lives, a lasting legacy that continues to grow year after year.

Happy 20th Birthday Jigsaw Crouch End! Here’s to many more years of sparkle, stage lights and standing ovations!

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Megan is now the proud owner of Jigsaw Crouch End, making this her fourth Jigsaw school!

Megan’s journey with Jigsaw has been one of passion, dedication and unwavering commitment to giving children the very best start in performing arts. Over the years, she has built thriving school communities where confidence grows, friendships flourish and young performers are encouraged to shine both on and off the stage.

Taking on Jigsaw Crouch End marks an exciting new chapter. Her experience running three successful schools means she brings not only creative vision, but strong leadership, warmth and a genuine understanding of what makes Jigsaw so special.

Why physical activity matters for young people And how dance and drama can make all the difference

As parents, we all know that staying active is important for our children. But between school pressures, screen time and busy schedules, it can sometimes be difficult to find the right activity.

Not every child connects with traditional sports, and that is completely okay.

What matters most is finding something they enjoy. Something that helps them move, express themselves and feel part of something positive.

For many young people, dance and drama offer exactly that.

More than just keeping active

Physical activity is not just about fitness. It plays a huge role in a child’s overall wellbeing.

Regular movement can help young people:

  • Improve focus and concentration at school
  • Manage stress and anxiety
  • Build strength, coordination and energy levels
  • Develop better sleep routines

But just as importantly, it supports emotional wellbeing.

At this age, children are navigating friendships, identity and growing independence. Having a safe, structured space where they can move, create and connect with others can make a real difference.

Why dance works so well

Dance is one of the most engaging ways for young people to stay active.

It combines movement, music and creativity, making it feel less like exercise and more like something they genuinely look forward to each week.

In our Ilford classes, dance helps students:

  • Build coordination and body awareness
  • Improve fitness in a fun, accessible way
  • Develop discipline and focus through routines
  • Feel more confident in their own bodies

For children who may not enjoy competitive sports, dance offers a supportive alternative where progress happens at their own pace.

The role of drama in physical and emotional development

Drama might not always be seen as “physical activity”, but it plays a powerful role in helping young people become more confident and expressive.

Through movement, role play and character work, students are constantly active, using both body and voice.

Drama helps children:

  • Become more comfortable being seen and heard
  • Develop communication and social skills
  • Explore emotions in a safe and structured way
  • Build confidence in group settings

For many parents, one of the biggest concerns is confidence. Drama is often where those quieter children begin to find their voice.

A place to belong, not just a class

At Jigsaw Performing Arts Ilford, we combine dance, drama and singing into structured weekly classes for ages 7–18 years from 3pm – 6pm on Saturday afternoons. We also run performing arts classes for 3-6 years which provides a great foundation in physical activity and confidence building.

But what matters most is not just what we teach, it is how we teach it.

We know that every child is different. Some arrive full of energy, others feel nervous or unsure. Our role is to meet them where they are and help them grow in confidence over time.

That is why our classes focus on:

  • A safe and welcoming environment
  • Consistent routines that children can rely on
  • Supportive teachers who understand different personalities
  • Progress without pressure

Because for us, it is not about creating performers. It is about helping young people feel confident, capable and happy in themselves.

Finding the right fit for your child

If your child is not enjoying traditional sports, or you are simply looking for something that supports both their physical and emotional development, dance and drama could be a great fit.

It offers movement, creativity and connection all in one place.

And often, it becomes the part of their week they look forward to most.

Try a class at Jigsaw Ilford

We offer a two-week trial, giving your child the chance to settle in, make friends and experience our classes before committing.

Whether your child is full of confidence or still finding their feet, they will be supported every step of the way.

Book your trial today and discover a place where your child can stay active, grow in confidence and feel they truly belong.
