We are so excited to announce that Bring a Friend Week is coming to Jigsaw Arts Barnet, High Barnet and Potters Bar.

One of the things we love most about Jigsaw is the sense of belonging that grows inside our classes each week. Friendships form, confidence builds and children discover a place where they can truly be themselves. Bring a Friend Week is a wonderful opportunity for our students to share that experience with someone special.

Whether your child already has a best friend who loves to sing and dance around the house, or knows someone who could benefit from a confidence boost and a welcoming new activity, this is the perfect chance to introduce them to the world of Jigsaw.

A warm welcome for every child

At Jigsaw, we understand that trying something new can feel exciting for some children and a little nerve-wracking for others. That is why our classes are designed to feel safe, structured and supportive from the moment children walk through the door.

Bring a Friend Week is all about welcoming new faces into our classes and helping every child feel included, comfortable and encouraged. Our experienced teaching teams are experts at helping children settle in gently, whether they arrive full of excitement or feeling a little shy.

We believe every child deserves a place to belong, and this special week is a lovely way for new families to experience the warm and inclusive environment that makes Jigsaw so special.

What happens in a Jigsaw class?

Our performing arts classes combine drama, singing and dance in a fun and engaging way for children aged 3–18.

Every session is carefully structured to support children as they grow in confidence, communication and creativity at their own pace. Through games, storytelling, movement, music and teamwork, students develop skills for life while making friendships and having lots of fun along the way.

For younger children, classes are full of imagination, movement and playful learning. For older students, sessions encourage teamwork, creativity, resilience and self-expression in a positive and encouraging environment.

Most importantly, children are supported every step of the way by experienced, DBS-checked teachers who genuinely care about helping every student feel seen, valued and included.

Why bringing a friend matters

Everything feels a little easier with a friend by your side.

For children who may be thinking about joining a new club or activity, being invited along by someone they already know can make all the difference. It helps ease nerves, builds confidence and allows children to experience something new in a familiar and friendly way.

For our current students, Bring a Friend Week is also a chance to celebrate the friendships and confidence they have developed at Jigsaw. There is something really special about seeing children proudly share the classes they love with others.

We know that some children join Jigsaw because they already love performing, while others come simply looking for a safe and welcoming activity where they can grow in confidence and make friends. Both journeys are equally important to us.

Who can attend?

Bring a Friend Week is open to friends who would like to experience a Jigsaw class alongside a current student.

Whether they already love performing arts or are completely new to it, everyone is welcome. No previous experience is needed, just enthusiasm and a willingness to join in and have fun.

Our classes are designed to support all personalities and confidence levels, and our teachers work hard to ensure every child feels comfortable and included.

There is always a real buzz around Bring a Friend Week, and we cannot wait to see our classrooms filled with even more laughter, creativity and new friendships.

Every parent wants their child to feel happy, secure and confident in who they are. But confidence can look very different from child to child.

For some children, confidence means walking into a classroom independently for the first time. For others, it might be speaking up in a group, making a new friend or performing in front of an audience with a smile on their face.

At Jigsaw Arts Barnet and Potters Bar, we believe confidence is built gently over time, not through pressure or perfection. Our classes are designed to support children aged 3–18 in developing communication skills, creativity, resilience and self-belief in a safe and welcoming environment.

Because at Jigsaw, we are about far more than just performing.

Confidence starts with belonging

One of the biggest reasons children grow in confidence at Jigsaw is because they feel they belong.

Walking into a new class can feel overwhelming for many children. Some arrive full of excitement, while others cling tightly to a parent’s hand. We understand that every child is different, and we never expect children to be loud, outgoing or instantly settled.

Our teachers are experienced in supporting all personalities and confidence levels, whether a child is shy, sensitive, energetic or somewhere in between.

From the moment children arrive, they are welcomed into a structured and supportive environment where they are encouraged at their own pace. Small routines, familiar faces and gentle encouragement all help children feel emotionally safe.

And when children feel safe, confidence naturally begins to grow.

Performing arts help children express themselves

Drama, singing and dance all provide children with opportunities to communicate and express themselves in different ways.

For some children, performing arts give them a voice they struggle to find elsewhere.

Drama activities encourage imagination, storytelling and communication. Children learn how to speak clearly, share ideas and work together creatively.

Singing helps children develop vocal confidence and encourages participation in a group setting. Even joining in with warm ups or singing alongside classmates can be a huge confidence boost for children who are naturally quieter.

Dance supports physical confidence too. Children become more aware of their bodies, movement and coordination while building trust in themselves and their abilities.

At Jigsaw, we regularly see children who once struggled to say hello eventually volunteering ideas, performing scenes or confidently chatting with their classmates.

Those moments may seem small, but they are often huge milestones for families.

Our summer term is now in full swing at Jigsaw Arts, and we are so excited to see our classrooms buzzing with energy, creativity and growing confidence as students settle into another fantastic term together. 

There is something special about the Summer Term at Jigsaw. The brighter mornings, the boost of energy that comes with lighter evenings and the excitement building towards the end of term all combine to create a wonderful atmosphere in our classes.

This Summer Term is our Technique Term at Jigsaw, which means students are spending extra time focusing on building and developing their core performing arts skills. Across drama, singing and dance, children are exploring new techniques through fun, engaging exercises designed to support steady progress and growing confidence. Technique Term allows students to strengthen their foundations in a relaxed and encouraging environment, helping every child continue to grow at their own pace.

At Jigsaw, we believe every child deserves a place to belong. The Summer Term always feels like a time when friendships deepen, confidence blossoms and students become even more comfortable expressing themselves.

What students are enjoying this term

Every week at Jigsaw includes a balance of drama, singing and dance, giving children the opportunity to explore different forms of creativity while developing communication and social skills.  

This term, students have been:

• Learning new choreography and movement skills
• Exploring imaginative drama activities and storytelling
• Building vocal confidence through singing exercises and songs
• Working together in groups and supporting one another
• Developing focus, listening and teamwork skills
• Preparing class pieces and creative work for the end of term

For our younger students aged 3–6, sessions continue to focus on gentle introductions to performing arts through imaginative play, movement and fun routines. Familiar structure and warm encouragement help little ones settle in and feel secure.  

More than just performing arts

At Jigsaw, we often talk about how performing arts supports far more than performance skills alone.

Drama encourages communication, empathy and imagination. Singing helps build confidence and teamwork. Dance supports coordination, focus and physical wellbeing. Together, these experiences help children develop skills that support them both inside and outside the classroom.    

Parents regularly tell us how these skills begin to show up in everyday life too. Children may become more willing to join in at school, speak more confidently, make new friends more easily or simply feel happier in group settings.

Those quieter wins matter enormously to us.

Looking ahead to the rest of the term

As we move further into the Summer Term, excitement continues to build. Students will keep developing their skills, strengthening friendships and working towards sharing their progress with family and friends later in the term.
