What we are doing this term at Jigsaw St Albans

This term at Jigsaw St Albans is our much-loved Technique Term, giving students across all age groups the opportunity to develop new skills, grow in confidence and try exciting new experiences in a safe and supportive environment.
Technique Term gives children the chance to explore different styles, strengthen their performing arts skills and most importantly, enjoy the process of learning and growing at their own pace.
At the end of Technique term parents recieve a written report keeping them update with their childs progressing and learning and Jiigsaw!

Exploring emotions through performing arts in our Performing Art classes
For our 3–4 and 5–6 year olds, this term’s work is centred around emotions and self-expression.
Our youngest students are exploring emotions through the wonderful story of The Colour Monster, while our 5–6 year olds are taking inspiration from Inside Out. Throughout the term, children will explore different feelings through singing, dance and drama, with each emotion linked to a colour theme.
We have started with our yellow and happy theme, where students have been:
  • Singing upbeat songs
  • Learning themed dances
  • Going on imaginative drama adventures
  • Talking about what makes them feel happy
  • Using their own ideas and experiences in class
These sessions are about so much more than performance skills. Through creative play and structured activities, children are developing communication, emotional awareness and confidence in a way that feels fun, gentle and engaging.
At Jigsaw, we know every child expresses themselves differently, and Technique Term gives us a lovely opportunity to encourage creativity and conversation in an age-appropriate way.
Our popular bring a parent week for 3-4 years & 5-6 years classes
Later in the term, we’ll also be welcoming families into the classroom for our special Bring a Parent Week for our 3-6 years sessions.
This is always a highlight for our students, who love showing their grown-ups what they’ve been learning in class.
Parents will have the opportunity to:
  • Join in with singing and dancing
  • Take part in drama games and adventures
  • Experience the structure of a Jigsaw class first-hand
  • Share special memories with their child
These sessions are always full of smiles, laughter and proud moments, and they give families a wonderful insight into how confidence grows week by week at Jigsaw.

A packed and exciting term for Main School students
Our Main School students have an incredibly exciting term ahead, packed with projects, workshops and opportunities to explore different areas of performing arts.
We are starting the term with our Musical Theatre Project themed around Spongebob The Musical. Students are learning songs, choreography and scenes from the production within their age groups, working together to bring the material to life.
At the end of the project, students will perform what they have learned to each other, building performance confidence in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Alongside the musical theatre project, students will also take part in:
  • A commercial performance project
  • Teacher Focus Technique Week
  • Teacher Swap Week
  • Our much-loved Jigsaw Talent Show
  • A special West End Workshop
Celebrating individuality through our talent show
Another favourite part of the term is our Jigsaw Talent Show.
This is a brilliant opportunity for students to showcase their unique talents and interests in a relaxed and supportive environment. Whether they choose to sing, dance, perform comedy, play an instrument or share another special skill, the focus is always on encouragement, creativity and confidence.
At Jigsaw, we love celebrating every child’s individuality and giving them opportunities to feel proud of themselves.
Finishing the term with a West End Workshop
To round off the term, we are incredibly excited to welcome industry professionals for a special West End Workshop.
Students will learn choreography, singing and scenes inspired by a West End production, giving them valuable insight into the world of professional performance while continuing to build confidence and skills in a fun and accessible way.
Experiences like this help students see the many possibilities within performing arts while still keeping the focus on enjoyment, creativity and personal growth.

More than just performing arts classes
Technique Term is always so rewarding. Across both our Performing Art and Main School classes, students are developing:
  • Confidence
  • Creativity
  • Communication skills
  • Teamwork
  • Emotional awareness
  • Performance technique
Most importantly, they are doing so in a place where they feel supported, welcomed and encouraged to be themselves.
We can’t wait to see how all our students continue to grow throughout the term at Jigsaw St Albans!

Bring a Friend Week at Jigsaw Crouch End!

We are so excited to announce that Bring a Friend Week is coming to Jigsaw Arts Crouch End.

One of the things we love most about Jigsaw is the sense of belonging that grows inside our classes each week. Friendships form, confidence builds and children discover a place where they can truly be themselves. Bring a Friend Week is a wonderful opportunity for our students to share that experience with someone special.

Whether your child already has a best friend who loves to sing and dance around the house, or knows someone who could benefit from a confidence boost and a welcoming new activity, this is the perfect chance to introduce them to the world of Jigsaw.

A warm welcome for every child

At Jigsaw, we understand that trying something new can feel exciting for some children and a little nerve-wracking for others. That is why our classes are designed to feel safe, structured and supportive from the moment children walk through the door.

Bring a Friend Week is all about welcoming new faces into our classes and helping every child feel included, comfortable and encouraged. Our experienced teaching teams are experts at helping children settle in gently, whether they arrive full of excitement or feeling a little shy.

We believe every child deserves a place to belong, and this special week is a lovely way for new families to experience the warm and inclusive environment that makes Jigsaw so special.

What happens in a Jigsaw class?

Our performing arts classes combine drama, singing and dance in a fun and engaging way for children aged 3–18.

Every session is carefully structured to support children as they grow in confidence, communication and creativity at their own pace. Through games, storytelling, movement, music and teamwork, students develop skills for life while making friendships and having lots of fun along the way.

For younger children, classes are full of imagination, movement and playful learning. For older students, sessions encourage teamwork, creativity, resilience and self-expression in a positive and encouraging environment.

Most importantly, children are supported every step of the way by experienced, DBS-checked teachers who genuinely care about helping every student feel seen, valued and included.

Why bringing a friend matters

Everything feels a little easier with a friend by your side.

For children who may be thinking about joining a new club or activity, being invited along by someone they already know can make all the difference. It helps ease nerves, builds confidence and allows children to experience something new in a familiar and friendly way.

For our current students, Bring a Friend Week is also a chance to celebrate the friendships and confidence they have developed at Jigsaw. There is something really special about seeing children proudly share the classes they love with others.

We know that some children join Jigsaw because they already love performing, while others come simply looking for a safe and welcoming activity where they can grow in confidence and make friends. Both journeys are equally important to us.

Who can attend?

Bring a Friend Week is open to friends and siblings who would like to experience a Jigsaw class alongside a current student.

Whether they already love performing arts or are completely new to it, everyone is welcome. No previous experience is needed, just enthusiasm and a willingness to join in and have fun.

Our classes are designed to support all personalities and confidence levels, and our teachers work hard to ensure every child feels comfortable and included.

We cannot wait to welcome you

There is always a real buzz around Bring a Friend Week, and we cannot wait to see our classrooms filled with even more laughter, creativity and new friendships.

Why performing arts classes are so powerful for building confidence at Jigsaw Arts

Every parent wants their child to feel happy, secure and confident in who they are. But confidence can look very different from child to child.

For some children, confidence means walking into a classroom independently for the first time. For others, it might be speaking up in a group, making a new friend or performing in front of an audience with a smile on their face.

At Jigsaw Arts Barnet and Potters Bar, we believe confidence is built gently over time, not through pressure or perfection. Our classes are designed to support children aged 3–18 in developing communication skills, creativity, resilience and self-belief in a safe and welcoming environment.

Because at Jigsaw, we are about far more than just performing.

Confidence starts with belonging

One of the biggest reasons children grow in confidence at Jigsaw is because they feel they belong.

Walking into a new class can feel overwhelming for many children. Some arrive full of excitement, while others cling tightly to a parent’s hand. We understand that every child is different, and we never expect children to be loud, outgoing or instantly settled.

Our teachers are experienced in supporting all personalities and confidence levels, whether a child is shy, sensitive, energetic or somewhere in between.

From the moment children arrive, they are welcomed into a structured and supportive environment where they are encouraged at their own pace. Small routines, familiar faces and gentle encouragement all help children feel emotionally safe.

And when children feel safe, confidence naturally begins to grow.

Performing arts help children express themselves

Drama, singing and dance all provide children with opportunities to communicate and express themselves in different ways.

For some children, performing arts give them a voice they struggle to find elsewhere.

Drama activities encourage imagination, storytelling and communication. Children learn how to speak clearly, share ideas and work together creatively.

Singing helps children develop vocal confidence and encourages participation in a group setting. Even joining in with warm ups or singing alongside classmates can be a huge confidence boost for children who are naturally quieter.

Dance supports physical confidence too. Children become more aware of their bodies, movement and coordination while building trust in themselves and their abilities.

At Jigsaw, we regularly see children who once struggled to say hello eventually volunteering ideas, performing scenes or confidently chatting with their classmates.

Those moments may seem small, but they are often huge milestones for families.

Why structured classes matter

Children thrive when they know what to expect.

Our classes combine creativity with structure, helping children feel settled and secure each week. Sessions are carefully planned to balance fun, learning and routine.

For younger children especially, routines help reduce anxiety and build independence. From circle time and warm ups to group activities and end of class reflection, children quickly become familiar with the flow of the session.

This consistency helps children feel comfortable trying new things.

Over time, we often see children take bigger steps simply because they feel secure within the environment around them.

The importance of positive role models

Our teachers play a huge role in helping children feel supported and encouraged.

At Jigsaw, our teaching teams are carefully chosen not only for their performing arts experience, but for their warmth, professionalism and ability to connect with children.

Positive encouragement from trusted adults can have a lasting impact on a child’s self-esteem.

Children flourish when they feel seen, valued and celebrated for who they are, not just for performance outcomes.

Confidence that lasts beyond the classroom

The confidence children build at Jigsaw does not stay inside the studio.

Performing arts help children develop skills they carry into school, friendships and everyday life.

For older children and teenagers, performing arts can also provide an important outlet away from academic pressure, screens and social stress.

For younger children, classes often become an important first step in learning independence, social interaction and communication outside the home.

These are skills for life.

More than just a class

At Jigsaw Arts, we know parents are not simply searching for an activity to fill a weekend.

They are looking for a place where their child feels safe, supported and genuinely happy. A place where confidence can grow naturally.

A place where children can make friends, express themselves and feel proud of who they are becoming. That is what we aim to create every single week.

Because confidence is not about being the loudest person in the room. It is about helping children feel comfortable being themselves.

Ready to try Jigsaw?

We offer welcoming performing arts classes for children aged 3–18, with opportunities to try classes before committing.

Most importantly, our classes are fun! When children are enjoying themselves, feeling supported, and doing something they love, confidence grows naturally. Seeing students walk through our doors each week smiling, excited, and ready to shine is exactly why we do what we do.

At Jigsaw Barnet and Potters Bar, we’re so proud to help children build confidence, creativity, friendships, and memories that will last a lifetime.

Performing arts classes that support the whole child

For many children, drama becomes a safe space to explore emotions, ideas and creativity while developing confidence speaking in front of others.

Our dance sessions are energetic, engaging and suitable for all abilities. Children improve coordination, rhythm and teamwork while having fun through movement and choreography.

Singing classes

Singing encourages children to use their voices confidently while developing musicality, listening skills and group performance experience.

Together, these classes help children develop important life skills including:

  • Listening
  • Resilience
  • Social skills

These kids classes in teddington teach transferable skills that support children both inside and outside the classroom.

Kids classes in Teddington for shy children and nervous starters

One of the most common concerns parents share is:

“My child is quite shy. Will they cope?”

At Jigsaw, we understand that starting a new activity can feel daunting for some children.

Many families specifically seek out our classes because they want a gentle and supportive environment where confidence is built gradually over time.

Children are never forced to perform or speak before they are ready. Our experienced teachers are skilled at helping nervous children settle in naturally and feel comfortable in the group.

Sometimes the biggest milestones are the quietest ones:

  • saying hello independently
  • joining in with a game
  • volunteering an idea
  • making a new friend
  • walking into class confidently

Those moments matter enormously, and we celebrate every child’s individual journey.

A place to belong for children aged 3–18

Jigsaw Performing Arts offers classes for children and teenagers aged 3–18 years.

Little Ones classes (ages 3–6)

Our younger classes provide a gentle introduction to performing arts through imaginative play, movement, music and storytelling.

Sessions are carefully structured to support:

  • Confidence
  • Listening skills
  • Creativity
  • Communication
  • Social development

For many children, it is also their first independent drop-off activity, and we work closely with families to help children settle happily.

Main school classes (ages 7–18)

Older students continue developing performing arts skills while building teamwork, resilience and communication in a supportive and encouraging environment.

We focus on progress without pressure, ensuring children feel motivated and included regardless of previous experience or ability.

Why performing arts classes are so valuable for children

Parents are increasingly looking for activities that support emotional wellbeing and confidence alongside physical activity and creativity.

Performing arts naturally help children:

  • Express themselves more confidently
  • Improve focus and concentration
  • Develop social confidence
  • Learn teamwork and empathy
  • Build resilience
  • Reduce screen time
  • Feel part of a positive community

At Jigsaw, we often see children who begin quietly and cautiously gradually grow into confident communicators over time.

That transformation is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

Convenient for families in Teddington and surrounding areas

Our kids classes are ideal for families across:

  • Teddington

Celebrating Megan graduating from GSA with a Masters in Theatre!

At Jigsaw, our teachers and school owners are at the heart of everything we do. They are the ones creating safe, welcoming spaces where children can grow in confidence, creativity and communication.

Today, we’re celebrating Megan, the owner of Jigsaw Barnet, High Barnet, Potters Bar and Crouch End, as she reaches an exciting milestone in her journey.

Megan has recently graduated from the prestigious Guildford School of Acting (GSA) with a Masters in Theatre. GSA is one of the UK’s leading drama schools, known for training performers to the highest professional standard.

Her third graduation, and every step has been driven by a commitment to being the very best – not just for herself, but for every student she teaches. Bringing the right knowledge, passion and excellence back into her schools, she continues to inspire the next generation of performers.

Drama school is about so much more than learning how to perform. It’s about building resilience, developing communication skills and learning how to connect with others.

Bringing fresh energy into her schools

Alongside graduating, Megan continues to lead and manage four Jigsaw schools, supporting both her teaching teams and the children who attend each week.

Parents often tell us they are looking for a class that feels structured, supportive and genuinely enjoyable for their child. Megan understands and implements that balance.

Moments like this are important to celebrate. Not just the achievement of graduating, but the dedication, care and consistency Megan brings to her schools every week.

Because behind every confident child is a teacher who believed in them first. And that’s exactly what Megan continues to do.

We are so proud of Megan and everything she has achieved. Her hard work, determination, and passion continue to inspire both our team and our students every single week.

Congratulations, Megan! Your Jigsaw family is always cheering you on every step of the way!
